The #1 Secret to Success: Persistence

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan Press On! has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race.” Calvin Coolidge

Lately, it is popular to talk in terms of manifesting or attracting success. As a life coach,

I use that language myself. I often describe how powerful the energy of our imagination is and that we can achieve great, extraordinary results when once and for all we are willing to embrace it.

I know this to be a truth, a law of the Universe. There is indeed a law of attraction that is in operation at all times. When you are working with a life coach finding out your deep core values is key. If you are going to be attracting something, it best be what is best for you. Knowing your values, making sure you are in alignment with your higher, soul self and moving in the right direction will take down your path and to success.

But how?

This is where for some the problems arise. There is a faulty belief in some people that wishing and manifesting are synonymous. They could not be further apart than if they were mortal enemies. You do not “wish” something you desire into being. Life is not Disneyland. Manifesting is about so much more than wishing.

Once you know what you want, (which really is a pretty important step), you think it, you desire it, you have a strong unshakable faith in it, and you work towards it in an organized fashion persistently. It isn’t anymore what you “want” it becomes what you “absolutely must-have.” There is no room for maybe, or half-way, or Plan B. You must be all in.

With a firm decision, and strong commitment you can weather the storms that are sure to come. “Overnight” success likely took years of perseverance before suddenly rolling in like a burst of thunder.

Men and women who are filled with talent never make it to the heights of success, not because they are good enough but because they give up just shy of their big break. Virtuoso pianists or guitarists don’t exist because someone has a gift from God, they exist because they use that gift. Every day, they practice and practice and practice until they get it right. Formulas that save lives are discovered because one more test is run, and another, and another and another. Inventions of all kinds are a result of undying faith that “there must be a better way”. Thomas Edison had 10,000 failed attempts before finally succeeding at the lightbulb. He didn’t succeed because he was smarter, or more talented. The success came from an undying determination. It came from an unyielding persistence.

What are you wishing for that you know deep down will take more than just wishing? What are you wishing for that you know will take a change in your thoughts, a deep desire and a real plan to make it happen?

  • · A happy marriage

  • · Job satisfaction

  • · Better communication with your co-workers

  • · Ways to motivate your employees

  • · More money in your bank account

  • · A chance to travel to exotic destinations

  • · A new house

  • · To have children

It takes more than Jiminy Cricket’s plan to sing a little song and wish upon a star to get you across the finish line of whatever race you are running right now.

An organized plan of action is required. I can help with that. Working harder is not necessarily working smarter. Having a life coach with expertise and experience ensures that you are encouraged to put your focus where it belongs, so your energy will flow too. Things become easier when you have someone to walk along the path with who knows the way.

I have helped people just like you by holding you accountable to your goals. You aren’t able to lie to yourself or make excuses for not sticking with it. I make it hard to exhaust yourself by avoiding the challenge or bailing on it too soon repeatedly.

Instead, you practice the principle “know thyself and make a firm decision”. You learn to stay focused on what your goals are every day. See yourself living the life you deserve and commit determinedly towards achieving it. Persist in the actions that are required as part of your organized plan. With this commitment you can withstand any challenge, you can see any set back as simply a temporary detour.

If you are not immediately successful there’s no worry. There will undoubtedly need to be adjustments along the way, make them and then stay the course. It is persistence that will carry you across the finish line.
